Expert Witness Services
Independent Expertise to Support Your Business
At The Knowledge Nexus, we draw on our experience across fashion and textile compliance to support expert witness work - for solicitors, manufacturers and brands who need an independent, credible opinion when a dispute lands.
Independent Opinion, Grounded in Textile Expertise
“In a dispute, opinion isn’t enough. What counts is expertise that’s independent, rigorous and able to stand up to scrutiny.”
Enquiries usually come from solicitors, insurers or businesses on the performance of clothing and protective garments, or on the technical substance of a Research & Development claim. From there it's a straightforward conversation, and an honest answer on whether we're the right people to help.
We've supported claims for Research & Development tax relief, helped a fabric supplier through a dispute with a customer over a uniform contract, and advised a brand on an issue with a fabric chosen for one of their coats - the range is broad, and if it touches textiles or clothing, there's a good chance we've seen something like it before.
How We Work
Every enquiry starts the same way: a call or an email, and a straightforward conversation. We'll listen to what's happened, ask the right questions, and give you an honest view on whether we can help - the first 30 minutes are free. If it isn't something we can take on, we'll happily point you toward someone who can.
We can't share case studies here - confidentiality is the whole point of this service. We guarantee never to disclose the details of your matter to anyone outside The Knowledge Nexus or the people we’re working with directly.
What we are Regularly Asked to Help With
This isn't an exhaustive list - if your query doesn't fit neatly into one of these, get in touch and we'll tell you honestly whether it's something we can help with.
R&D Tax Relief
Independent, technical opinion on whether development work meets the tests for a qualifying Research & Development claim.
Uniform & Workwear Contract Disputes
Supporting fabric suppliers and manufacturers through disputes with customers - including uniform contracts for government agencies - where the performance or specification of the product is in question.
Fabric & Material Performance
Assessing whether a fabric chosen for a finished product - from outerwear to everyday garments - performed the way a brand was relying on it to.
